Dream: Five Minute Friday

Another week, another chance to write on a one-word prompt for only five minutes. We set timers, type quickly, and let it flow without criticism. Then, we link-up our posts so we can read others' posts and they read ours and we have a community that grows from one word each week.
Five Minute Friday.

Go!

This week's prompt is "Dream".
"A dream is a wish your heart makes, when you're fast asleep..." ~Cinderella, 1950 Disney

I equate the word dream with "vision".
Joel 2:28 "[ The Day of the Lord ] “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions."

This year, I have seen this pouring out. I have seen young children praying for their school, their community, with fervor and sincerity.

After reading "The Circle Maker" by Mark Batterson, I have a challenge for you. What is your dream? What is your vision? If Jesus stood in front of you right now, what would you ask Him for? What is your God-sized dream?

Mine was huge, once I considered the question. And it was something aligned with His will. But, it will take time to see it through.

I have had visions and dreams in the process leading to that final goal, and perhaps it will take my lifetime to see it through, but when you delight yourself in the Lord, the desires of your heart that He gives you are also the desires of His heart. (Psalm 37:4)
One of the visions I had in the larger part of my dream was of all our students praying together, hands joined. Unified praying for our school and our ministry.

It happened! And we closed with the song, "I have decided to follow Jesus."

My devotional from Christine Caine this morning contained this verse:
Proverbs 29:18 says, Where there is no vision, the people perish ... (KJV).

We must have a goal, a dream, a vision, a purpose. Then we will pour what we are given into that dream.

Some of my other dreams? I dream of my children following Christ. That they would lead others to Christ. That when I am done on Earth, that He will tell me "Well done, good and faithful servant."

Timer sings, time to stop.

  2. Tammy, I love this! I have dreams of making some of my poems into children's books, turning some of my photos into notecards, and more. Ultimately I want it all to glorify God and point others to Him. Thanks, also, for visiting my blog. :) God bless! xo

Tried to leave a comment twice on the post with no success so posting it here

    Tammy,
I started to read The Circle Marker then I put it down. Our Pastor gave it to all us ministry leaders. Some have seen God move in a mighty way. I think I was lacking faith to move forward in the book, not giving myself permission to believe and dream. But this book is haunting me. It keeps coming up over and over again, even at a meeting last Saturday. So I resolve to go back to the book. I free myself to see my dreams all the way through. I'm happy to be your neighbor at #FMF

  4. Wow, this is a great post. I loved being reminded by your scripture verses that dreaming is important in our faith work. Yes, our dreams need to be aligned with God's will for us, only then can we go forward. Thanks for the reminder.

    2. Karrilee (and Susan), it is well worth reading. I first heard about the "praying circles around your children" two years ago at a women's retreat. This one, I impulsively purchased at the checkout stand and it was the right price and the right time!
      (yaay for paper books)
Karrilee, thanks for coming over. Sorry I don't use our hashtags in my posts. I'm not that brave yet. ;)
But I have so much fun with you on Twitter!
      Love,

I needed to be reminded of this. Thank you!

  7. Tammy I love where Holy Spirit took you with this. I feel so unspiritual I wrote about Charlotte's Web! LOL! I'm in parking slot 57 at Kate's today but I always have to drive over to your neighborhood and read your inspiration! xo

    1. Susan,
you bless me everytime you think of me! :) Sorry I haven't gotten over but I will later tonight.
And I don't believe Charlotte's Web is unspiritual. In fact, check out Andrew at #7 today. He was thinking of Charlotte's Web as well.

  8. Wow. Blogger has not been friendly to some of my friends today. I don't know why or I'd adjust something.

Jeanne Takenaka also tried to comment but it wouldn't publish.

    Hey Tammy,

I so loved your post today! I tried a few times to comment, but for some reason, the Publish button just isn’t working for me. :(

I still wanted to share my thoughts with you. :)

Here’s what I wrote. Tammy, I love seeing a glimpse of part of your dream. And how beautiful it must have been to see all those children holding hands. And to hear them praying! Wow.

I haven't read the Circle Maker yet. I need to. And your sharing Psalm 37:4 . . . that's one of my life verses. Thank you for the challenge to dream big dreams and then trust Jesus to bring them to life. Great post today!

Have a wonderful weekend, my friend!

  9. As I said in my FMF contribution, I dream of seeing tomorrow. And that's enough.

  11. Tammy, first of all thank you for stopping by Heart Choices and leaving your kind comment. I'm really glad I stopped by to read your post on the word 'dream'. The dream that is constantly in my heart and on my mind is that my loved ones would come to know Jesus in a personal relationship and walk with Him daily. I have prayed about this for so many years.
